The Enclosed Instruction Book (7/11/2011)

Published on 13 July 2011

The first implementation of the show’s new talk-oriented format, featuring co-host and fellow intern Elizabeth Zelman alongside Martin Bonica. The Enclosed Instruction Book as it now exists is a platform for the reflections on the hosts on their daily lives, their feelings about their experiences in Israel, and their interpretation of current events in Israel and abroad from the perspective of (self-described) average Americans.

Today’s show focused primarily on the “Boycott Law” currently under consideration in the Knesset; Liz examined what she felt could be a negative impact on Israeli democracy, and Martin focused on what he saw as a potential destructive impact on the Israeli economy’s ability to adapt to demand. Other topics included former American Vice President Dick Cheney’s cybernetic implants and the microscopic controversy surrounding America’s observance of Free Slurpee Day.
Musical selections included:
  • We Are Scientists – Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt
  • Mark Ronson & The Business Intnl. – Lose It (In The End)
  • They Might Be Giants – The Shadow Government
  • Devo – Don’t Shoot (I’m A Man)
