In her weekly commentary, Eetta took a different angle to look at “Mofaziyahu” and the coalition government, the tent protest by Israelis of Ethiopian origin, and violence.  Ran Melamed, Deputy Director of Yedid, pointed to the budget debate as the next issue we should be watching, Dr. Erella Shadmi, criminologist, feminist and activist, discussed the role of the police in society in light of the wave of violent attacks sweeping across the country, and Maayan Tene talked about one place that Israelis and Palestinians are cooperating – on the basketball court in Jerusalem.

Weekly program that talks about the activities happening within civil society. This is being done mainly from an Arab-Israeli perspective.

• The first topic that was being discussed in the program by the Abraham Fund Initiative was the ‘Coalition against Racism’ that is currently campaigning against racism in Israel. The campaign is supported by a huge coalition of organisations and actors coming from the civil society and is also being supported by different celebrities. The main goal is to advocate against acts of racism that are occurring against the Arab minorities but also against other ethnic minorities such as for example the Ethiopians. • The next case handled on the traditional domestic violence Arab Bedouin women in the Negev desert are facing. The issue that was put in the spotlight is the one of the obstacles these victims are facing in trying to file complaints addressed at the official authorities.
• After that the emphasis was being put on yesterday’s first of May events and more specifically the focus was put on the common Arab-Jewish struggle for more social justice.
• Finally, the upcoming elections of next summer were being discussed from the point of view of the Arab electorate. Will they go and vote or will they abstain from being active in the political area? A general feeling exist that there vote doesn’t make a difference, throughout Israeli political history there has for example only been one Arab minister. But if they do vote will they chose to vote for Arab politicians and parties or do they turn to the traditional Israeli ones, and how can this be explained?

Short overview of issues as discussed in the All for Peace morning show. Talking about subjects that really affect people’s daily life.

 30th of April

• Tomorrow, the first of May, will be a rather unique one in Israel. For the first time different social movements are collaborating in a march for more social justice. The rally will take place during the evening in Tel Aviv; simultaneously the first of May protests from all over the world will be shown on big screen.
• After that, the current proposals to oblige everyone to serve the country through army service or by doing national service were being discussed. A group by the name of ‘common denominator’ is currently advocating that also the 40 procent of the Israeli population, mostly ultra orthodox and Arabs, who are at the moment being exempted of these obligations should give back something to the country. B. Netanyahu, A. Lieberman and E. Barak have all promised the group to put forward a proposal for such a law. The question is now if this is just discourse that can be framed within the context of the upcoming elections or if this move is going to lead to a solid result.
• Dalia Sheyndlin, a political annalist, was the next guest on the show. She argued that the recent attacks of the former heads of Mossad and Shabak, the external and internal secret service, on current prime minister B. Netanyahu and minister of defence E. Barak was likely to affect their changes in the upcoming elections of next year. The criticism was the result of the fact that the two politicians highly focus on Iran as the current most important threat for the country. In Israel the most important issue during the elections is the one of security and as such the criticism is most likely not going to be without any consequences. All other issues like socio-economic justice are secondary in the prominent political debates.
• The next interview was conducted with Yaniv Fildast, the founder of Hagan Hasolari. His initiative is a solar park located in Binyamina and has the purpose to teach it’s visitors about greener solutions. It’s aiming at creating a better understanding about the environment and more sustainable consumption.
• After that, activists of the machson(checkpoint)-watch spoke with All for Peace. Their organisation consists of a group of women who go to the checkpoints in order to help the Palestinians who face problems because of them. They gave positive news though. A road up to Nablus, that was closed before for Palestinians and that was only in use by settlers has been recentely opened by the military. When one of the activists was going to Nablus on memorial day, just a couple of days ago, she could travel surprisingly travel freely.
• Achinoam Nini, better known internationally under her artist name Noa, was the last guest of the morning show. Currently she has been facing a lot of criticism of right winged groups following a show she gave at the joint Israeli-Palestinian alternative memorial day service in Tel Aviv organised by ‘combatants for peace’. Next day she performed at the regular memorial day service in the same city as well. Nevertheless some people found out about her presence at the alternative service and call through soical media for a boycott. Noa though has always been fighting for social justice, even before she became so famous.

Die Jerusalemer Altstadt ist nicht einmal ein Quadratkilometer groß. Und doch stehen hier nicht nur viele, sondern mitunter die heiligsten Bauten der drei großen Weltreligionen: die Grabeskirche, die Al-Aksa-Moschee und die Klagemauer. Die heilige Stadt ist ein Magnet für Touristen und Pilger.

Doch auch wenn es so scheint, als ob hier alles auf den Tourismus ausgerichtet ist, weil sich in den engen Gassen Souvenirshop an Souvenirshop reiht, so ist die Altstadt gleichzeitig doch auch Heimat für fast 37 000 Menschen. Juden, Christen, Armenier, Muslime – sie alle wohnen hier auf engstem Raum. Was das bedeutet, das verrät Lissy Kaufmann in dieser Sendung von Sakranut.

100 Mann gegen Umweltsünder

Wie hält man eine Stadt mit hunderten Stufen, engen Gassen und tausenden Müllsündern sauber? Eine Stadt, in der sich am Abend vor den Läden und Hauseingängen Müllsäcke und Kartons stapeln? Mit einem knapp 100 Mann starken Team. Dieses zuckelt mit kleinen Traktoren durch die Sträßchen und schafft täglich 30 Tonnen Müll vor die Stadttore. Lissy Kaufmann war einen Abend lang mit den Männern der Müllabfuhr unterwegs.

Wenn’s Zoff gibt, geht‘s zum Clanführer

Wie lässt sich eine Stadt verwalten, in der Menschen verschiedenster Religionen, Traditionen und Kulturen leben? Nicht immer mit öffentlichen Institutionen – das gilt zumindest für die arabische Bevölkerung. Die löst Streit und Konflikte lieber untereinander, innerhalb und zwischen den verschiedenen Clans. Aber dann ist da ja noch das Problem der Siedlungen in der Altstadt: Denn auch hier gibt es Grenzen und auch hier werden sie von jüdischen Siedlern überschritten. Über die traditionellen Strukturen, die Sicherheit und die Siedler der Altstadt hat Lissy Kaufmann mit dem Städteplaner Rassem Khamaisi gesprochen.
