Congratulations Syria

Published on 15 January 2011

We have just read that Syria won its football game against Saudi Arabia 2:1 in the Asian football championship. Well done Syria !!!!
We know a lot about you Syrians: That you hate us; prepare for war against Israel; are friends of Iran and so on, but that you also play football we did not know. There are probably many more things we do not know about Syria and its citizens. Please let us know more. If we know more we might even start liking you.
We are giving the football as an example because we are sure that Israelis and Syrians have a lot in common and that we can easily overcome the conflict between us.
It is not only we that do not know about you. How much do you know about us? Do you know for instance that we have a wonderful Syrian football player in Israel? He might even be invited to the Israeli national team. His name is Viam Amaasha. He is a striker and we enjoy very much seeing him score almost every week. Viam lives on the Golan Heights and as far as we hear is a proud Syrian.
There are more people in Israel we would like you to know. Just let us do so. Hundreds of thousands of Israelis believe that Israel should reach an agreement with you and shift the sovereignty of the Golan back to Syria. We are not the majority in Israel but do not ignore us. We might one day be the base on which peace will be build. Please respond to our plight. Communicate with us. The ongoing link between us might one day become an important beginning.
Good luck Syria with your future football games in the tournament.
